In May 2017, Upower was a recipient of Best Starts for Kids Healthy and Safe Environments – a grant funded by King County to increase access to physical activity and create safe and health promoting environments.
This award guaranteed a continued working relationship with Interagency Academy for 18 months, providing the resources needed to retain a Upower staff member on-site at Southeast Campus and expand our program to several Interagency locations.
Flash forward to February 2019. King County has extended our grant for 18 more months which, in addition to continuing our Interagency presence, will allow us to create a toolkit model for future expansion.
