Embracing Play Equity: Our Commitment this Summer

At Upower, our mission to champion play equity remains at the forefront of everything we do. This summer, we’re thrilled to continue our programming with 50 hours of activity per week across six partner locations. Through sports and physical activities, we aim to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where every youth can thrive.

Highpoint Hoop Club

4th Summer Season

Get ready to hit the courts! Our Highpoint Hoop Club is back for its fourth summer, bringing excitement and skill-building opportunities to the community. You’ll find us at Highpoint, where Upower coaches are leading basketball sessions filled with energy, fun, and learning. We invite you to join us, whether you’re looking to refine your game or just enjoy the sport in a welcoming environment. Come say hi to our coaches and see what the Hoop Club is all about!

Casa de Los Amigos

A Partnership with Purpose

We are thrilled to continue our partnership with YouthCare’s Casa de Los Amigos, a safe haven for undocumented youth. At Casa de Los Amigos, Upower coaches bring joy and enthusiasm to the community, engaging the youth with lively games and activities that not only elevate their heart rates but also their spirits. This summer, we look forward to creating more memorable moments, fostering play, and making a positive impact together.

This summer, we are proud to strengthen our partnership with SeaMar Youth Treatment Facility, dedicated to supporting youth on their journey to recovery and wellness. At Upower, we recognize the transformative power of physical activity, and our programming at SeaMar is designed to enhance the well-being of the youth through engaging and therapeutic exercises.

Building on the success of last year, our summer session at Para Los Niños de Highline will feature an array of dynamic physical activities. At Upower, we believe in the power of play to make a difference in young lives. Our partnership with Para Los Niños de Highline reflects our shared commitment to creating enriching experiences that promote physical health, mental well-being, and social connection.

Juvenile Detention Centers

Systems Change

At Upower, we harness the transformative power of sports and play to benefit all youth, including those in juvenile detention centers. Our programs create a safe, inclusive space tailored to the unique needs of each facility, allowing justice-involved youth to experience physical, emotional, and social benefits, regardless of their fitness level. Beyond promoting exercise, we provide a supportive environment for exploring potential, building positive relationships, and discovering new interests. Partnering with juvenile detention centers, Upower brings the joy of physical activity to those who need it most, fostering play, connection, and empowerment on their healing journey.

Upower is thrilled to announce the release of our DEI trainings and trauma-informed physical education curriculum on Teachers Pay Teachers. This initiative allows P.E. teachers and educators nationwide to access valuable resources while creating a new revenue stream to support our ongoing programs.
