Plans for 2019

January 2, 2019

Welcome 2019

New Locations, New Students, New Projects

Expansion may turn out to be the Upower buzzword of 2019 as we’re on track to add two new locations, offer our program to a new demographic, and continue evolving our partner relationships.

This year, we are teaching classes at a youth immigrant shelter and launching a pilot program at the Rainier Valley Leadership Academy – our first middle school location.

Exciting projects are also underway in collaboration with The Sports Institute at UW Medicine. And with the State of Play King County Advisory Board and other community stakeholders, we are helping to produce a landscape analysis on the resources needed to increase the rate of physical activity and play in King County youth.

Upower is grateful for all of our partners. A special shout out goes to the Beecher’s Foundation Sound Food Uprising, whose workshops provide essential health and culinary education to our students, and to Up2Us Sports, whose staff train our coaches in trauma-informed fitness.

We’re looking forward to an awesome year!
