Happy Women’s History Month!

As we step into March, we’re thrilled to honor and celebrate Women’s History Month with you. This is a time to recognize the incredible impact that women have had on shaping our world, both in the past, present, and the future ahead.

Throughout this month, we invite you to join us in acknowledging the vital contributions of women across various fields and industries. Let’s take a moment to reflect on their achievements, resilience, and the barriers they’ve broken down.

But our celebration doesn’t stop there. It’s also time for action and empowerment. We must continue to educate ourselves further on women’s history, their ongoing struggles, and the progress we still need to make. Let’s show our support and solidarity by uplifting and advocating for the women in our communities.

History

Women’s History Month started as Women’s History Week. It began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California by the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women in 1978.

The organizers selected the week of March 8th to correspond with International Women’s Day.The movement of Women’s History Week spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week.

President Jimmy Carter was the first to acknowledge and dedicate the week to Women’s History week, and with other presidents to follow, March was finally designated as Women’s History Month in 1995.
