Upower acknowledges that our program sites reside on the unceded ancestral lands of the Duwamish People. We honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe.

Upower 2020

Expansion, Collaboration, and Research!

Upower 2020 is about growing, partnership building, and delving deeper into exacting facts that support our mission.

On King County’s Eastside, we’re increasing programming at the Echo Glen Children’s Center in Snoqualmie and collaborating with Rainier Athletes to host classes at the Bellevue Family YMCA.

Rainier Athletes is a sports and mentorship organization that directs underserved students towards a path of achievement.

Together, we’ll be working with underserved students (along with their core community of parents, teachers, and coaches) to lend support and help motivate them to reach their greatest potential.

Elsewhere, we continue to offer Upower classes at multiple locations and are busy exploring options to engage more students.

On the research front, we are partnering with the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital to study the benefits physical activity has on the students at Glacier Middle School in SeaTac (Highline Public Schools).

Our stage is set to make 2020 Upower’s best year yet!
